Here, you’ll find high-quality barbells, squat racks, platforms, and free weights—everything you need for purposeful, focused training. With 24/7 access, you can lift on your own terms, in your own rhythm. Whether you're brand new to lifting or returning to it after time away, this is a place where you’ll feel at home.

Just a Gym

  • 24 Hour access to gym, 30 minute personal training session with owner, discount on group classes. Automatic payments on a month to month basis. Once signed up, you will need to check your email for the door code, which will be changed on the 1st of each month. Must be 18 or older to be a member. 

    $75 per month

  • 24 Hour access to gym, for a TWO person household, 30 minute personal training session with owner, discount on group classes. Automatic payments on a month to month basis. Once signed up, you will need to check your email for the door code, which will be changed on the 1st of each month. Must be 18 or older to be a monthly member. 

    $125 per month

  • Perfect for visitors or getting a feel for the gym, this membership offers 24 hour access to gym for 7 days, beginning on day of purchase. Once signed up, you will receive an email for the door code, good for 7 days. Must be 18 or older to purchase week pass. 

    $40 per week 

  • Just need to get a quick workout in? This membership is good for one day of gym access OR one instructor led workout class. Must be 18 or older to purchase day pass. 

    $15 per day

  • Owner and operator Carmen Skildum has been leading group strength training classes since 2018. Lift weights in a supportive and encouraging environment. Open to both experienced lifters and folks just starting out. A Gym Membership is not needed to attend classes. 

    $15 per class

Carmen is a certified trainer and the founder of Grand Marais Barbell. She keeps things straightforward, welcoming, and focused on helping people get stronger at their own pace. She believes in showing up, doing the work, and building a gym community where everyone feels comfortable.

ISSA-certified personal trainer

AJ Schaefer

AJ is an ISSA-certified personal trainer with a degree in Physical Health and a focus on men’s wellness. After transitioning out of college sports, he dove into learning how the body works and found a lasting passion for strength and movement. AJ brings steady guidance, practical knowledge, and a commitment to helping people build a stronger, healthier version of themselves.

Nicole Banit

Nicole is a NASM-certified trainer with a background in Biology and Neuroscience. She’s a lifelong athlete who fell in love with strength training for the way it builds confidence and resilience. She brings a supportive, down-to-earth approach and is excited to help people make steady, meaningful progress in their fitness journey.
